Codata Factsheet | Bordeaux (city centre 2024)
Each month, Codata selects a city centre that has been recently studied by our team of data-collectors in order to share the latest trends observed on site.
Last June, our team of data-collectors conducted the annual census of the city centre of Bordeaux. The cluster encompasses six commercial sites totalling 2,618 locations, of which 2,046 are occupied by shops.
Commercial sites included in the city centre of Bordeaux:
• Shopping streets
• Les Grands Hommes (shopping centre)
• Mériadeck (shopping centre)
• Mériadeck Les Passages (shopping centre)
• Promenade Sainte-Catherine (shopping centre)
• Saint-Christoly (shopping centre)
Commercial vacancy rate has increased: the proportion of empty retail locations went from 7.0% to 8.4% from 2023 to 2024.
In terms of distribution, the activity “Cafés-Hotels-Restaurants” remains at the top of the ranking of sectors with the highest occupancy rates with a 26.0% occupancy rate (i.e. 531 locations).
Second place goes to the “Clothing” activity with a 18.1% occupation rate (i.e. 370 shops). Finally, the activity “Perfumes-Beauty-Body care” closes the ranking with a 12.6% occupation rate (i.e. 257 shops).
Unlike last year, when it increased by 0.3 point, the proportion of retailers is decreasing: 34.6% in 2023 compared with 34.2% in 2024.
